@agitate.art launches tomorrow! An online gallery @agitate.art launches tomorrow! An online gallery of 'Protest Art' curated by @helen.ara and myself. 'AGITATE ART' has been an idea nurtured by Helen and I since we attended the International Animal Rights Conference in Luxembourg last year. As longstanding animal rights artists we found ourselves outside our comfort zones (and our field of experience) realising the wealth of other issues that interlinked with the animal rights cause that we specialised in. Issues of politics, feminism, race and gender to name but a few. And so we decided to educate ourselves and broaden our horizons, and that's how AGITATE was born. We have a handful of completed videos ready to launch, and are in the process of contacting other artists, poets, sculptors, etc hailing from all over the globe. The intention is to create a gallery that grows as we ourselves learn about how creativity is being used to combat ignorance, prejudice, and injustice. Hopefully it will be a valuable (and interesting) resource for anyone seeking inspiration for their own acts of 'creative protest'.
